1. I was one of the first three people waiting for OJ's famous slow-speed chase on the street at his Rockingham home. I have a whole roll of film from that day.

5. I went to Joe Blasco makeup school and graduated at the top of my class (of five) but never did a thing with it. (hi mom!)

By the way, some of the ladies (Gretch, Robin, Frectis, Myris) in my blogroll I have known for nearly ELEVEN YEARS. I just think that is so incredibly cool. They've taught me everything I know about birth and being a mom. Eleven years. Damn!

bits & pieces

of the last week or two:

-we met the new principal. It seems that there may be hope for this one yet!

-we love it when Mia says her name: Mindy. It goes like this.

-I finally finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I was very hesitant to read it because I'd heard that a lot of characters die in it. I read the prologue and just those two quotes made me cry and I had to put the book down for a week until I was brave enough to try again. I managed to not cry for the rest of the book but I will admit to being a little choked up at parts toward the end. Otherwise, it was kind of predictable, but I still loved it.

-Josh starts work with one of those new singing game shows next week. Best of all? He'll only be in Studio City! (not that it's any consolation to Josh, who still has to commute in traffic, his favorite thing in all the world)

-We no longer qualify for Healthy Families or free/reduced lunches at school, by a very small amount. To say I'm frustrated is an understatement.

these little dudes were totally inspired by my newest idol, Tara Anderson. I'm obsessed with Taras (see Tara Whitney's link in my sidebar), apparently. How I threw a Gretchen in there too, I have no idea. ;)

I have another set growing and a cute little boy journal/guestbook thingie to upload, maybe tomorrow. Wanna set up an etsy shop!

best cereal ever

I am not a cereal person. Before I banished breakfast all together, I was a hot-breakfast kind of person forced to eat cereal every day. I had to force myself to eat all sorts of yicky cereal during those early years. However, there have always been two standbys: Frosted Mini Wheats and Rice Krispies.

The Rice Krispies I love are plain, straight from the blue box and doused with liberal amounts of sugar, which is best eaten with the milk at the bottom of the bowl. If there are still sugar granules at the bottom of the bowl, you did it right.

Last week I found my latest cereal obsession: Rice Krispies Treats cereal! I've never seen it in any store until last week at Superior. I ate the whole box of cereal over the course of three days. Today I went to three different stores to look for the dang cereal but they only have it at the ONE store. I only bought two boxes and am not sure I bought enough. WHAT IF THEY DISCONTINUE IT?! Yes, I love the cereal that much. Paul, you'd dig it too - if you come over this week and there happens to be any left, I'll treat you to a bowl. (hee! double entendre!) Gretchen, I wish you could appreciate my love for this cereal but I'm sure it's just way too artificial for you. Like Velveeta. I love it, you would never. :)

And what is this fabled frosted Rice Krispies cereal I hear of? Anyone?

what kind of idiot, part deux

What kind of idiot STUBS THEIR BROKEN TOE on their own shoe? Yep. Yours truly.

In my own defense, I was chasing after Mia who had crawled out of my line of vision. I just didn't manage to get my foot up high enough over the shoes I had just taken off to settle in on the floor. I totally cried in front of Claire. I think I scared her. But oohhh did it hurt! and started swelling all over again. Fabulous! Just in time for Josh to leave so I won't be able to take time to put my foot up as much, or I won't have the option of not getting up and walking around. Effing fabulous.

I tossed the "deux" in there for Josh and his comments on my newfound love of the French language and Bryan, because I know how he loves everything French - people, songs, food, fries...everything. Bryan just looooves him the French people, he does. (yes, I'm totally kidding on both counts)

update-ish

Not much has happened lately so there hasn't been much to post about. Lots of little things here and there, but nothing major. Thank goodness! The biggest deal to me is that March 11 finally came and went...more sunshine! I only feel alive on these long days full of light. The decision to make Daylight Savings earlier this year made such a wonderful difference in my life. Love it!

Last week Josh finished working on the Soul Train Music Awards and has some much deserved time off. We're spending lots of time just being together, talking, working on the house, painting the inside, enjoying the kids. There was a job he was almost offered a month ago that was a great opportunity (read $$$) but would have taken him out-of-state for several weeks. The company ended up choosing someone else which was a brief disappointment and then massive relief, until they called back and hired him, damn it. I suppose a lot of my thoughts right now are just on soaking up Joshie while he's still here and mentally readying myself for a long stretch of being the only parent home. I'm not too worried, but I know I'l miss him and so will the girls (and the damned mopey dog) but we'll spend a lot of time with our surrogate families. Steph and Bryan. Teresa and Jordan. Hannah and her family. I can always call my preschool mom friends and I'm going to begin a massive campaign to get Gretchen out here for a visit, too.

I'll be okay. We all will. It's just going to suck for a while.

So that's where I've been and that's where I'll be.

Did y'all see that Britknee shaved her head? I can't say that I don't understand wanting to do that after a breakup, but I was a teenager then and not the mother of two. Really though...poor thing.

PS - Cherrrrrylllllllllll....I know you read my blog! A little birdie told me. I know you're out there! At least have the netiquette to leave a comment one of these days. C'mon...no more hiding or I'll have to bust out some old pictures of you :)
