that went well, didn't it?

I am happy to announced that December is OVER and we return to our regularly scheduled lives tomorrow morning. I never thought I'd be so happy about a schedule in my entire life. I am a very non-schedule kind of girl, in case you hadn't noticed.

So the blogging about Christmas thing went well, didn't it? Yeah, I thought so. Turns out the season was harder to muddle through than I'd anticipated. But I am being uncharacteristically positive (or at least making another attempt to be) and am excited to plunge forward with the new year...maybe set some goals for myself...and maybe actually achieve those goals! Some ideas are as simple as walking the dog every day, cutting back on white sugar and flour, keep up with Pilates at home, doing better with staying on schedule (ack! again?!) and keeping the house clean, but others are as far out as writing a book, which is not as far out as it sounds.

In my effort to be a better Morning Mom, tonight I will go to sleep before 5AM and make the girls' lunches before morning! Watch out world, Laura is taking over!

a little break already

I had a Christmas thing ready to go yesterday but it just wasn't "enough" and I'm not really in the spirit at the moment. So, I'm taking a Christmas break already. This first week of December is a really hard one to drag myself through. I lost my grandma on 12/1/96 and Josh's dad died on 12/5/93. I told the kids we can start decorating after the fifth, so that's the plan for the weekend.

BUT...December does bring me my wonderful, bestest friend Gretchen! Her birthday was yesterday (happy belated G, although I did type happy birthday to you in chat ;) and guess what? She's having her baby tomorrow, right on its due date. She'll go in to the hospital tonight for some meds to get her cervix ready and start the pitocin in the morning if needed, and being a grand multip, I don't anticipate she'll need it. On the flip side, the baby's amniotic fluid is low, which could be problematic, so please keep a good thought for my Gretchie and her EIGHTH baby.

thing #2

I first tried pumpkin roll one holiday season at Pam's, courtesy of Kris. I haven't made one yet, but I do snag a piece whenever I see one out at a holiday thang. Yum.
